finished veronika decides to die. mm.. quite a bit of philosophy but really can identify with what is being said. there's so many tt i can't rem a particular one to quote tho so interested ppl go read d book urself. haha.
kk i will put some excerpts:
'she was neither happy nor unhappy and that was why she couldn't go on.'
'... each human being is unique, each with their own qualities, instincts, forms of pleasure and desire for adventure. however, society always imposes on us a collective way of behaving, and people never stop to think why they should behave like that. they accept it, the way typist accept that the QWERTY keyboard was the best possible one.' -pg 153
'it's a distortion of nature, it goes against God's laws, for in all the world's woods and forest, He did not create a single leaf the same as another. but you think it's mad to be different and that's why you chose to live in Villete, because everyone is different, and so you appear to be the same as everyone else.'
i guess it makes one think about life, about how everyone is doing certain things because others expect it or because it is the normal path to take. i though abt more things but somehow forgot them alr. i think the ultimate takeaway from this book is to live life to the fullest, do whatever one wants, feel the extent of all emotions, follow one's dreams regardless of what society thinks. it advocates anarchy; it advocates liberation. from society's shackles of 'normal'.
screw 'normal'. embrace madness. be happy.
all these terms are relative anyway so who is to judge which is what?
